The Racing Formula (theracingformula.com) is a free UK & Irish horse-racing statistics site. Most of the site works with no account and collects nothing personal. This page explains the few places where we do hold data about you, why, and your rights.

What we collect, and why

Email address	Only if you subscribe to the daily picks email	Stored (keyed by a hash) in our hosting provider's data store with your confirmation status and secure confirm/unsubscribe tokens. Double opt-in: nothing is sent until you click the confirmation link. Used solely to send the email you asked for — never sold or shared.
Account details	Only if you create a free account	Handled by Clerk, our sign-in provider (username, optional email, or Google SSO). We use it to sync your stable, preferences and alerts across devices.
Telegram link	Only if you link Telegram for alerts	Your Telegram chat id is associated with your account so the alerts you chose can be delivered.
Web-push subscription	Only if you enable browser alerts	The push endpoint your browser issues is stored so we can send the alert types you opted into. Unsubscribing removes it.
Usage analytics	Only after you accept analytics cookies	Google Analytics 4 (aggregate page usage) and Meta's measurement for our own promotion campaigns — we show no third-party ads on this site. Cloudflare Web Analytics runs cookieless and stores no personal data.

Everything else you do on the site — your stable, notes, watchlist, saved filters, theme — is stored in your browser's localStorage and stays on your device unless you sign in and choose to sync. The full key-by-key list is in the cookie policy.

What we don't do

We don't sell or share your data with anyone.
We don't show third-party advertising.
We don't set server-side cookies — session handling uses short-lived signed tokens in request headers.
We don't profile you for betting inducements. This is a statistics site, not a bookmaker.

Retention

Email subscriptions — kept until you unsubscribe (one click in any email) or ask us to delete it.
Accounts — kept until you delete your account (in your profile, or by emailing us).
Analytics — GA4 retains aggregate data for 14 months.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of the data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email us and we'll action it within 30 days. You can withdraw analytics consent at any time from the cookie policy page.
