📈 Today’s pedigree angles — A board at the top of the Pedigree Lab’s day view for the things you’d otherwise have to open every race to find: runners bred for the conditions, sires who are specialists on today’s ground, crosses outperforming the sire’s own record, trainers who do better with a sire than that sire does overall, first-season sires with nothing to read yet, and runners the pedigree is against. Every row states the number that fired it, so you can check it rather than take it on trust, and every row jumps straight to its race. An angle that finds nobody today doesn’t get a tab — we drafted a course-and-sire angle and dropped it, because on a normal card it fires for no one.
🏇 Which going a sire actually prefers — A sire’s “preferred going” was simply whichever surface had his best strike rate, with no regard for how many runs that was. More than one sire in four had a preference resting on fewer than twenty runs, and the mistake wasn’t random: jumps sires kept coming out as firm-ground horses because a handful of runs on firm happened to include a winner. Saddler Maker was published as preferring firm off ten runs, against 1,168 on soft. A preference is a comparison, so it now only counts surfaces with a real and comparable sample — and where nothing qualifies, it says so with a dash instead of guessing.
🎯 “Bred for this” instead of “ELITE” — A runner’s breeding line used to read ELITE, STRONG, AVERAGE or WEAK. Two problems with that. It described the horse, when all it ever looked at was the sire and the cross; and it came from a model whose weights have not changed since February. It now says Bred for this, Suits, Neutral or Against, and it means something you can check: how the sire’s progeny have actually done on today’s ground and over today’s trip, against the population at the same conditions. A third better than average is “Bred for this”; the same distance the other way is “Against”. Open the row and it shows its working — which measures it used, and, just as importantly, which it couldn’t. One measure on its own is a hint, so it can only ever say “Suits”. On a typical card about one runner in eight is bred for the race and about one in eleven is against it; most are neither, which is the honest answer.
📏 A strike rate now has to earn the word “good” — This is the part that made the rest possible. Our sire records held the strike rate at each going and trip, but not how many runs it came from — so a sire who had run three times on firm and won once looked identical to one who had run two thousand times. Ocovango reads 21.7% on firm; that is five wins from twenty-three runs, against nearly two thousand on soft. Eleven per cent of those figures were exactly zero, mostly from a handful of runs, and the page was rendering them as a confident negative. The run counts are now published and everything checks them: below twenty runs we show the number and withhold the verdict, and the ground badge doesn’t appear at all. An unknown is not a bad result.
🧬 The Pedigree Lab’s day view, rebuilt — The Today tab listed a horse, its sire and its damsire as plain text. Nothing was clickable, the dam and the trainer were never shown at all, and on a phone the sire and damsire were hidden outright — a pedigree page with no pedigree on it. Every name is now a link, the dam and trainer are there, and tapping a sire, dam or damsire opens a panel inside the row: that horse’s record on today’s ground and trip, the trainer’s record with that sire, its record at this course. You keep your place in the card. Red flags — a first-season sire, a poor record at the trip — used to be hidden behind the arrow; they are on the row now, because roughly one runner in five carries one. There is also a Tomorrow switch: the card is usually up by about half five in the morning, long before the pedigree scores publish at quarter past eight, so you can read tomorrow’s racing the night before.
📏 Two numbers we were showing that we shouldn’t have been — The expanded pedigree report carried a “win probability” and a bar chart of what the model weighed. The win probability was not one: on a typical day the figures across a card added up to more than three times the number of races being run, so it could not be read as a chance of winning, and the model behind it has not been retrained since February. The bars were scaled so the smallest always looked like about 3%, and they showed what the model weighs in general rather than what mattered for that horse. Both are gone. The real data insights and the red flags stay, because those are checkable statements. Separately, a strike rate now has to have enough runs behind it before we’ll draw a conclusion from it: a sire who is “21.7% on firm” off 23 runs, against nearly two thousand on soft, gets the number shown and the verdict withheld. An unknown is not a verdict.
🔧 Two more scoring components that had never counted — Yesterday we found a recent-form component reading a field our data has never contained. Checking its neighbours found two more doing the same thing: class suitability (is the horse dropping or rising in grade?) and rating trend (are its recent ratings improving?). Both are described on our methodology page as things the score weighs. Neither had contributed a single point, on any runner, on any day. They now do. On a live card that changes the top-rated horse in 12% of races for our fallback model and up to 25% for some others. Two things follow, and they matter more than the fix. We backtested it over 2,554 settled races before shipping, and the result was genuinely inconclusive — slightly worse at level stakes, slightly better at picking winners, and not stable enough across the period to call either way. We are telling you that rather than quoting the half that flatters. And as with the first repair, we have not restated a single published pick: the record on our performance page now spans three different scorers, and it says so, with the dates. A record you can check is worth more than a record that looks tidy.
❓ Favourites under pressure, on the Today page — Favourites Under Pressure takes the shortest price in each race and lists the question marks it carries — a long absence, a step up in class, a yard out of form, ratings on the slide. It is one of the most immediately useful things here and almost nobody found it. It now appears on Today as well: each flagged favourite with its race, its price and its first few question marks, one tap from the race itself. It reads the same analysis the standalone page does — not a second version of it — and on a day when no favourite carries anything worth mentioning, the section simply isn’t there. Things worth checking before you form a view, not reasons to oppose the horse.
📉 What the market did, without leaving the race — The 🔥 and ❄ chips on a racecard tell you a horse is steaming or drifting, and tapping one used to open the Smart Money page in a new tab — answering the question by taking the race away. Tapping one now opens that runner’s own market detail, in the race you were already reading: the morning price, the price now, how far it has come and which way, how much has been matched, and how old that reading is. If we don’t have a morning price to compare against, it says so rather than showing you a 0% move — an unknown is not the same as a horse that hasn’t moved. The Smart Money page is still there for the whole market, one link away.
🏟️ Racecourse pages now open with today’s racing — Every racecourse page led with historic draw bias: which stall wins most over five furlongs, going back years. Useful, and not what anyone arrives with on a race day. Today’s card at that course — every race, its name, and the top-scoring runner in it — is now the first thing on the page, with the draw tables underneath where they still are. And on a day the course isn’t racing it says so plainly and points you at the day that is on, rather than leaving a link to a card that has nothing from that course on it.
⚡ The speed figure that was never there — Racecards carry a Speed column and a Trend arrow next to a runner’s ratings: a weighted figure from the topspeed ratings of its last six runs, and which way those are heading. Both have shown a dash for every runner since they were added, because the code was reading a field name our data has never used — the same class of mistake as the scoring bug below, in a different place. Of the 10,385 past runs on a recent card, none carried the name being read and 8,604 carried the real one. They now show the real figure, on the racecard, the runner card, the compare view and the horse profile. A horse with no topspeed ratings in its recent runs still shows a dash, because that is genuinely unknown rather than zero.
⏱️ How old is that price? — Every market number on the site now tells you its own age, in the same words wherever it appears. The racecard used to show LIVE beside a ticking clock — but that clock was your browser’s, showing the moment we last asked, so it looked equally live whether the prices behind it were thirty seconds or three hours old. It now reads the age of the data itself: just now, 4m ago, and once a snapshot is genuinely old it says so plainly and turns amber instead of staying reassuring. Smart Money, the Market movers on Today, the Value board and Overnight Gambles all carry the same label — the last two were already being sent a timestamp that nothing on the page read. And where a price carries no timestamp at all, it says so rather than implying it is current: an unknown age is not a fresh one.
❓ The favourite’s question marks, in the race itself — Favourites Under Pressure looks at the shortest-priced horse in each race and lists what is worth checking about it — a long absence, a yard out of form, a step up in class, a poor run last time, ratings on the slide. Useful, but you had to go and look. The market favourite’s row on Racecards now carries a small ❓ N where N is how many of those questions it has, and opening the runner lists them. Only the favourite gets it, never more than one horse in a race, and it is the same analysis the page runs rather than a second opinion. These are things to research before you form a view — not reasons to oppose a horse, and not betting advice.
🔗 Who has already met whom, on the racecard itself — Form Lines works out the earlier races where two or more of today’s runners have already faced each other. It has been its own page for a while, which meant checking it was a separate trip. Every race on Racecards now carries a 🔗 N met before tag when its runners have history together — on a normal card that is most races — and tapping it opens Form Lines with that race already in view. Open a runner and you will also see which of today’s rivals it has met, where, and how each of them finished. Nothing new is calculated and no new score exists: it is the intersection of form lines already on the card. Weights, ground and trip differ today, so a previous meeting is context to research, not a forecast.
📊 Trainer and jockey strike rates that were reading zero — Every trainer and jockey profile worked out its record from the finishing positions of today’s runners’ recent form — but it was reading a field our data has never contained, the same kind of fault as the scoring bug below. So every one of them reported 0 wins and a 0% strike rate, and on jockey pages the form table underneath was empty. They now show the real figures. Three of the question marks on Favourites Under Pressure — a horse stepping up in class, one out of the frame last time, and one whose ratings are sliding — had never appeared for the same reason, and now do. We have also stopped a handful of places printing a confident 0% or £0 where the honest answer was that the market had not been measured yet: those read “—” now, because “we don’t know” and “zero” are not the same answer. 📖 Six words, one meaning each — Standout, Smart Money, Value, Edge, Alert and Consensus had drifted into meaning slightly different things on different pages. Value was the worst: it meant a bookmaker price longer than the exchange thinks fair on the Value board, a rank comparison in one chip tooltip, a statistical ratio in the glossary, and — confusingly — it was also the label on the badge for a horse the handicapper has treated kindly, which is a different idea entirely. That badge now reads ⚖️ Well In, which is what it has always meant. All six words are now defined once, in the help pages, and the glossary points there rather than giving you a second answer. The rule that matters most: Edge always means a rule you built — never a price advantage, never the models liking a horse.
🤝 Consensus now says what it means — and a chip that had quietly stopped appearing — The Consensus page compares how our AI models score the same horse, but you had to know what a “variant” was to read it. Every card now leads with the verdict in plain words — Strong agreement, Majority agreement, Strong disagreement or Split — with the individual scores still underneath. While writing it we found the page had been describing a version of itself that no longer existed: it promised ten scoring algorithms and thresholds of “4 or more agree” when three models have been scoring runners for some time, and it was really applying two-of-three. Worse, the matching ✓ consensus chip on the racecards asked for four models out of a possible three, so it had been rendering on no horse at all. Both are fixed, the thresholds are now worked out from however many models are actually running so this cannot happen again quietly, and the glossary and help pages say the same thing the code does. Agreement is not accuracy — models can be wrong together. Neutral analysis, not betting advice.
⚙️ Page controls moved to the page they control — The odds format (F/D), the Table/Cards switch and the AI variant chip used to sit up in the site header, next to search and the theme button, on whichever page you were on. They belong to a page, not to the site, and they were taking up about a third of the header — which is why Racecards, Today and AI Picks folded menus away into More at window widths where other pages did not. They now sit with the page’s own controls: on Racecards, beside the date; on AI Picks, beside the page title; on Today, just above the ⚡ Find bar. Racecards keeps its full menu bar down to a much narrower window as a result. Two of them were also doing nothing where they stood — Table/Cards only ever changed the racecards, so it has gone from the home page and AI Picks rather than being moved somewhere it still would not work. Your choices are unchanged and still remembered across the site.
🧭 A header that shows you the site instead of hiding it — Most of what this site does was behind one More button: twenty links in a single unlabelled list, where Courses, Trainers, Jockeys, Track Bias and the Breeding Lab sat in the same pile as About and the glossary. A bigger monitor did not help either — the header stopped widening at a fixed point, so a large desktop had no more room for the menu than a laptop, and Performance was pushed into More and left there. The header now uses the width it actually has, and everything is grouped under a heading that says what it is: Today, Form & Stats, Breeding and Tools, with More kept for reference pages — methodology, glossary, news, help. If your window is genuinely too narrow, the reference menus fold away first and the racing pages stay where they are; on a phone the ☰ button opens all of it as one list. Nothing was removed and no page changed address, so your bookmarks and links still work. There is a map of it in the help pages.
🐛 A scoring bug we had been carrying, found and fixed — Six of our scoring variants read the finishing positions of a horse’s recent runs from a field our data has never actually contained. Recent form — the single largest component of those scores — was therefore contributing nothing at all, on every runner of every day. It is fixed, and on a live card it changes which horse comes out top in 47% of races. Two things follow. Where our flagship model has no score for a runner, the rest of that race now falls back to our best-measured variant instead of our worst — which mattered most in big fields, where the flagship had been absent from every race of sixteen runners or more. And the methodology page now names the date the scoring changed on the affected variant, because its published record spans two different scorers either side of it. We have left the older picks exactly as they were published rather than quietly restating them — a record you can check is worth more than a record that flatters. Neutral analysis, not betting advice.
🧪 Every scoring variant, not just the three you can pick — The methodology page promised ten scoring variants and showed three. It now shows all of them, each with its hypothesis and its real record: the three you can put on your racecards, plus the ones we score every day purely as benchmarks to test the others against — including one ported from a rival’s published method, and one retired for never having changed a single selection. Open methodology has to include the ones that lost.
🔔 Your Edges alert and the Edges page now agree — If you armed the morning 🔔 on an edge but hadn’t ticked it on the Edges page, the Telegram could name a dozen horses while the page said nothing matched. Both were telling the truth about different things — the alert reads every edge with the bell on, the page shows the edges you’ve ticked — but nothing said so. The page now names any armed edge that has fired without being ticked, with its count, and one tap brings its horses into your list. Two things behind it also got fixed: the Edges page now loads the live market with the card, so the 5-Step Guide’s market and rank steps actually count there instead of silently reading as false — which is why a “4 of 5” rule could never fire on that page — and an edge that needs prices before the market has formed now shows “–” instead of a confident 0, because “can’t tell yet” and “nothing qualified” are not the same answer. Observational — horses matching your angles, not a betting recommendation.
🔑 A reason to have an account, said out loud — Starring horses, notes and the bet log keep what you build in the browser you are using. What was never said is what an account adds: your things kept against your name, and morning alerts when your stable is declared — by push, Telegram or email. There is now a plain explanation in the help pages, and the site mentions it once after you have starred a few horses, written a note or logged a bet. At most one mention a day, and "not now" means not again. Neutral analysis, not betting advice.
🔗 Form Lines — where today’s runners have already met — Two horses in the same race today have often met before, and finding those races means opening two form tabs and comparing them by hand. Form Lines now does it for the whole UK and Irish card each morning: every earlier race where two or more of today’s runners took part, with the course, date, distance, grade, field size and exactly where each of them finished. Today’s Nunthorpe, for instance, has thirteen of its field who all met at Ascot in June. A record of what happened, not a forecast — the comparison is the useful part, the conclusion is yours.
🏆 Big Races — every Group, Grade and Listed winner this season — A searchable record of the graded races: Big Races lists every Group 1 to Group 3, Grade 1 to Grade 3 and Listed race run in Britain and Ireland, with the first three home, the jockey and the starting price. Filter by grade or search for a race, a course or a horse. It is honest about its own limits: the record starts in October 2025, because results before then carry no race name to group renewals by, so this is this season rather than a twenty-year roll of honour. Updated nightly once results settle.
🔍 How to read a tipster’s record — A new reference page on judging any tipping record, including ours: the settlement price it used, how much of it is variance, what survivorship hides, and how to work out the random baseline a headline strike rate is quietly being compared against. It names nobody and recommends nothing — it is the five questions to ask, with the arithmetic shown so you can do it yourself.
📐 Edges can now filter on A/E, not just strike rate — The Edges builder has new fields for trainer, jockey, owner and sire A/E over the last fortnight: actual wins divided by what the starting prices implied. It is a better question than a strike rate — a 25% yard sending out favourites is ordinary, a 12% yard whose runners were 20/1 is not. Each A/E field has a paired runs behind A/E field so you can set your own sample floor, and nothing is published until an entity has at least 10 runs in the window; below that it reads as no data and the rule will not match rather than firing on a fluke. A read on the last fortnight, not a forecast.
⚖️ A marks board for the day’s handicaps — The new Marks Board puts the handicap numbers for today’s card in one sortable table: what each horse is rated now, the mark it last won off, how many pounds below that it runs today, and the handicapper’s latest move. Filter to the cases worth a look — running below its winning mark, back at a career-low rating, eased since its last run, dropping in class, out of Pattern company, or a course-and-distance winner. Every column is an official rating or the arithmetic between two of them: facts about ratings, not selections.
🧮 A bet calculator, free and no sign-in — There is now a bet calculator on the site. Type in your odds and it works out the return: singles, doubles, trebles and accumulators, and the full-cover bets people actually get caught out by — Trixie, Patent, Yankee, Lucky 15 and Lucky 31. It handles each-way (including horses that placed without winning) and Rule 4 deductions — put the withdrawn horse’s price in and the deduction comes off the winnings for you. Odds go in however you have them: 9/4, 3.25 or evens. Nothing is sent anywhere — the maths runs in your browser. It is a calculator, not a recommendation: it holds no view on any horse or price.
📮 Your Stable's day, by email — and email switches that go one at a time — If you star horses, trainers, jockeys or sires, you can now get the evening round-up of how they all got on by email as well as by push or Telegram: "Frankel WON @ 5/2 · Stradivarius 2nd", in your inbox after racing. It's off unless you turn it on, in your profile — where the email section now has one switch per email, so the morning picks and the evening Stable digest are separate choices. Every email's unsubscribe link now stops that email specifically; the others only stop if you say so. Neutral analysis, not betting advice.
✉️ A proper welcome when you join the daily email — Confirming your subscription used to land you on a page and that was that. Now the moment you confirm, a welcome email arrives telling you exactly what turns up each morning — and during festival weeks it hands you the goods straight away: the Formula Paper and that day's card. The confirmation email itself is more honest too: it names the page you signed up from, and you can now simply reply to any of our emails and a human reads it. And if a confirmation email gets buried in your inbox, we'll nudge you once — exactly once, a day later — then leave you alone for good. Neutral analysis, not betting advice.
📄 Festival papers — on the course page and in the daily email — For the big multi-day meetings, starting with York's Ebor Festival, we now build The Formula Paper: a free festival pack profiling the whole meeting from historic results, plus a day card for each day's racing. While the meeting is on, the downloads sit on that course's page (York's, for the Ebor), and if you take the daily email the links arrive with it each morning — nothing extra to sign up for. The meeting profiled from data — neutral analysis, not betting advice.
🏟️ Course pages now show today's races, not just times — The "Today at…" box on every racecourse page used to be a bare list of race times. It now lists each race with its name and the top AI-scored runner in it — so "what's on here today and who does the AI rate?" is answered on the page you're already reading, one tap from the full racecard. And when a big meeting is on, the course page dresses for the occasion: during Ebor week the York page carries the festival front and centre — all four days, each day's feature race, and today marked. Same morning-price AI scores as everywhere else — a shortlist to research, not tips.
🗓️ Booked rides up to five days out — Jockey pages now go beyond tomorrow: an Upcoming booked rides section lists each rider's bookings for the days ahead — up to about five days out — grouped by day with horse, time and course. It covers the busiest riders (the ones with full books), refreshes daily, and is honest about its nature: bookings that far out can change as declarations are made, and no AI scores are shown because none exist yet — they join a ride when its card is published. A factual list of bookings, not tips.
📅 Tomorrow's booked rides, the evening before — Every jockey and trainer profile now shows tomorrow's booked rides and declared runners in their own section under today's — horse, race time and course, straight from the declarations. Checking a jockey's book for tomorrow no longer means waiting for the morning. Late declarations (winter jumps declare the morning before racing) appear as the cards update, so "none declared for tomorrow yet" early in the day is normal — and AI scores join a ride when its card becomes today's. A factual list of declarations, not tips.
🔄 A tab left open overnight refreshes itself — If you keep the site pinned in a tab (plenty of you do), coming back to it a day later used to show you yesterday's card looking like today's. Now, a tab that's been open for more than 24 hours quietly reloads the moment you switch back to it, so what you're reading is always the current day's racing. It never interrupts you while you're using the site, and it waits if you're offline.
🏇 Who's riding today, right on the trainer and jockey pages — The Trainers and Jockeys pages used to open with an A–Z and nothing else. They now open with a board of today's booked rides and declared runners, busiest first, each with a count — so "who's got a big book at York?" is answered before you scroll. Tap any name for their profile, where today's declared runners are listed race by race. It's a factual list of declarations, updated with each day's cards — counts, not tips.
📧 Your email settings now agree with each other — If you signed up for the daily email using the form on the site and later made an account with the same address, your profile showed the switch off while the emails kept arriving each morning — and flicking that switch did nothing, because it was never connected to the sign-up you'd actually made. There was no sign anywhere that you'd subscribed at all. They're now one thing. Your profile shows the real state, tells you the date you signed up and where you did it, and turning it off stops the email properly. The unsubscribe links do the same whichever one you use — including the one-tap button Gmail and Outlook show next to the sender. Nothing about what arrives has changed, and nobody has been added to or removed from anything.
⭐ Star a horse, get told when it runs — Follow a horse, trainer, jockey or sire and you'll be offered a free browser alert on the mornings your stable is declared — right from the prompt, without an account. One tap to turn on, and if you say "not now" you won't be asked again. Un-star and the alerts stop. Neutral analysis, not betting advice.
📱 On iPhone? The picks alert now offers email too — iPhone Safari can't show the tap-once picks alert other phones get (Apple only allows it once the site is added to your home screen), so iPhone users were offered Telegram or nothing. The same card now has an "Email me instead" option: type your address, confirm from your inbox, and the day's AI-rated runners arrive each morning. Free, one-click unsubscribe, neutral analysis — not betting advice.
📬 The email signup is somewhere you can find it — The box for the daily email had drifted to the very bottom of the homepage and lost its styling along the way, which is a poor way to offer something. It now sits directly under the day's picks — where the information you came for actually is — and appears on the racecards, AI Picks, Today, Scorecard and Performance pages too. It's a proper form now, so Enter works and your phone shows a Go key, and it tells you plainly what turns up: every UK & IE runner scored, one email each morning, free. Neutral analysis, not betting advice.
📧 The day's runners by email, if you want them — If you're signed in, you'll now be asked once whether you'd like the day's AI-rated runners by email each morning. It's the same shortlist the site opens with, in your inbox before racing starts — useful if you'd rather not go looking. Free, one tap to turn on, one tap to turn off again in your profile, and every email carries a working unsubscribe link. Say no and you won't be asked again. Neutral analysis, not betting advice.
✉️ Unsubscribing actually works now — Two fixes to the daily email worth naming. Corporate mail filters open every link in a message to check it's safe, and ours treated that automated visit as a real unsubscribe — so a few people were quietly taken off the list by their own email provider without ever clicking anything. Unsubscribing now needs a deliberate confirmation, and the one-tap unsubscribe button that Gmail and Outlook show at the top of a message is properly wired up. The email also now sends a readable plain-text version for anyone whose client doesn't show pictures.

🏁 We're now The Racing Formula — same site, same tools, new name. Tipping Monster has become The Racing Formula, with a new look and a line that says what this place actually is: Data. Form. Insight. Nothing about how the site works has changed. Every racecard, AI score, pedigree report, edge and results page is exactly where it was, still free, and still showing losing days next to winning ones — the performance pages are unchanged, including the numbers that aren't flattering. Your saved horses, alerts and Telegram link all carry over untouched, and existing links and bookmarks keep working. The address has now moved to theracingformula.com too — every old link redirects automatically, so bookmarks, Telegram links and anything you've shared all still work. You don't need to do anything.
🎯 Overnight Gambles — who got backed while you slept — Smart Money now opens with the horses whose price shortened 20% or more between our 8pm snapshot and the following morning, ranked by size of move. Two honest caveats built into the table itself. First, a horse must have £500+ matched on the exchange overnight to appear at all — without that floor the list fills with enormous percentages on trivial money (on a typical night, six of seven qualifiers had under £500 behind them, topped by a 47% move on £52). Second, every row shows its move relative to the rest of its race: when a horse is withdrawn overnight the whole field shortens mechanically, and that isn't a gamble — it's arithmetic. Because of the floor, most nights nothing qualifies, and an empty list is the normal result. A record of where money went, not a tip.
💰 Value — bookie prices vs the exchange — A new Value page showing where a bookmaker is offering a longer price than the Betfair Exchange thinks is fair. The fair price is the exchange back price with the market's margin stripped out across the whole field; the edge is simply the gap between the two. There is no prediction model anywhere in it — it compares two observed prices and nothing else, so it can tell you a price looks generous but never that a horse will win. We're being upfront that this is unvalidated: we settle every listed price against the real Betfair Starting Price and won't publish a profit figure until the sample is big enough to mean something. The page also names its price sources and says when one is down — so you can tell a genuinely quiet day from a broken feed, which is a distinction most sites never let you make. Being straight about it — most angles come in below the market (A/E under 1.00); these are research shortcuts for finding horses worth a closer look, not profit systems, and we show the honest number either way. Custom rules you build yourself aren't backtested, so they carry no track record.
⏱️ Alerts just before the off — Every edge on the Edges page now has a second alert option: Alert me near the off. Alongside the existing morning digest, you can get a Telegram before each matching horse runs — one message per race, at a lead time you choose per edge (2, 4, 10, 20 or 30 minutes), with a daily cap so a loose edge can't flood you. It's the setting to use for anything market-driven, since whether a horse is a steamer means nothing at 9am and plenty just before the off. Pick either alert, both or neither, per edge. Needs sign-in and a linked Telegram.
📋 The 5-Step Analysis Guide, automated — The five-step reading protocol on each racecard is now a one-tap starter edge: the 5-Step Qualifier checks the AI score, suitability, pace, market move and the 🎯 rank check for you, and can alert you near the off. Being straight about the bar: it fires at 4 of the 5 steps, not all five. We replayed the composite over 73 days of real cards using the market exactly as it stood four minutes before each off, and all five aligned once. A rule that fires once a quarter isn't a feature, so four is the bar — and the steps passed (0–5) field is in the builder if you want to set your own. Like every angle here it's a shortlist to research, not a profit system.
⚡ Your edges, across the whole day — The Edges page now shows, next to every edge, how many horses qualify today — so you can see at a glance that it's a 73-runner day for Well Handicapped and a 3-runner day for Class Plunge. Tick any combination and the matching horses are listed for you. Better still, every race header on the racecards now carries a ⚡ count of how many runners in that race fire your edges, so you can scan the whole card and spot the races worth opening — before you open anything. And if you build your own edge, it now lights up as a chip on every runner it matches. Edges are research shortcuts, not tips.
💰 New shortlists on the Value board — Today's Value board gains 🏁 Front runners, 📏 Distance winners, 🥇 Last-time winners and 🏇 In-form jockeys alongside the originals. Each opens into the day's qualifiers, ranked, with a link straight to the race — and the ⚡ Find bar gained matching one-tap filters. Signals to research, not tips.
🔥 Sires in Form — The sires hub now opens with a 14-day leaderboard of the sire lines whose runners have been beating market expectations, with the strike rate and A/E behind each one. Every sire shown clears a minimum sample, so it's a read on which lines are firing right now — not a one-run fluke.
📋 Clearer about our pick log — We've reworded how we describe the daily pick log on the How we test page. It's a hash chain anyone can recompute to confirm no earlier day was altered — an internal consistency check. It doesn't by itself prove publication time, so we no longer imply that it does. Picks still go up before the off and we still don't change them.

🏁 Results settle the same afternoon — Pick results now settle within ~20 minutes of each race instead of waiting for the late-evening job: the results scoreboard, the Today tally, and the AI Scorecard page (which now shows today as soon as the first pick settles, with day-by-day browsing) all agree in near-real-time. The homepage Banker of the Day shows its result on the card the moment its race is official — and previews tomorrow's banker in the evening. Race times on the results page also now match the card (they were showing an hour early).
🎯 A more honest value signal — The old percentage "edge" chips over-promised and have gone. In their place: a factual rank-mismatch chip — 🎯 Mkt #6 · AI #1 — shown only when the AI ranks a horse three or more places higher than the morning market does. 🔁 Default AI tip switched to Field Edge — We checked every model variant's record month by month, and our old default (the original Baseline model) turned out to be the weakest at actually finding winners. So the headline AI Score across the site now uses our Field Edge model instead: its top pick wins more often (~25% vs the old 19%), and the winner sits in its top 3 about half the time (vs ~42%). The Baseline model still runs quietly behind the scenes as our control, so we can keep comparing. 📈 Performance — per-variant daily curves — The variant table on Performance now drills down: tap 📈 on any model variant for its day-by-day cumulative notional P&L curve plus a monthly picks/wins/P&L table (£10 level stakes, settled picks only). Pulled straight from Racing Post's own figures, so it carries race-type and profit splits our weekly lookup doesn't. Appears once the morning scrape has run.
🏆 Past Winners now sits with the AI Race Preview — Past Winners has moved up into the 🤖 AI Race Preview widget at the top of each race, with a one-line "most recent winner" summary right next to PACE, TOP AI and ANGLE — and the full last-decade table nested directly underneath. No more scrolling past the field to find it.
✓ AI consensus chip on the runner row — Runners now carry a small ✓ N/10 chip showing how many of the 10 AI variants rate them highly (≥65). UK course pages stay en_GB with an alternate locale flag.
⚡ Text shows immediately on slow connections — Font loading switched from optional to swap across all 17 v2 HTML files. On a flaky 3G train ride you'll now see your racecard text immediately in the system font while the custom font loads in the background, instead of staring at a blank-ish page.
🔍 Sharper structured data on horse / jockey / trainer pages — Dynamic entity pages now inject BreadcrumbList + ProfilePage / Person JSON-LD after the name loads, and mark themselves noindex when no name is supplied — so the empty shell never gets indexed alongside the populated profile URLs.
🏆 Course Specialists Today — Course profile pages now show, between the topography card and the profile-fit panel, a short list of today's runners with a prior win at this course. Each row carries W/R, win %, race time and morning odds — fastest way to spot horses that have already proven they handle this track.
↗ Past Winners — per-row Racing Post deep-link — Every year in the Past Winners table now carries a small arrow next to the year that opens that exact renewal's result page on Racing Post in a new tab. Lets you cross-reference any year's race comments or sectional times in one click.
Trainer / Jockey 14-Day rows hide when data is missing — Yesterday's fix to the jockey row also applied to the trainer row and to the horse profile page. No more "0/0 (—)" or "undefined/undefined" appearing when the scraper has nothing for that 14-day window.
🏆 Past Winners — always visible on every race — When you expand a race card, you'll now see a Past Winners collapsible right above the field — no more digging through the perspective tabs to find it. Lists the last decade of renewals with our own horse/jockey/trainer profile links, plus a Racing Post cross-link. Hidden silently when the race has no annual running.
🏞️ Topography card redesigned — Course profile topography section now uses a cleaner two-row chip split (character on top, warnings below), with Stamina and Pace meters laid out side-by-side as proper aligned pip bars. The "Plays similarly to" line gets its own labelled section. Bath, Brighton and other tracks with sparse warn flags no longer look half-empty.

🏞️ Top Profile Fits panel on course profiles — Course profile pages now compute, for each runner racing there today, how well their past form correlates with topographically similar venues — and surface the top 5 fits. A horse with three wins at Pontefract/Brighton/Epsom (stamina + uphill) gets flagged before running at Ascot. Score is 0–100; only 55+ shows. Pure suitability signal, completely orthogonal to price.
🏞️ Profile fit chip on individual runners — On any racecard, runners whose past form clusters at courses topographically similar to today's track now carry a Profile fit ⭐ / ⭐⭐ chip in the form-pill row. Built from the same 9-field course vector as the topography line. Skipped silently when sample is too thin to be meaningful.
🏞️ Course profile topography card expanded — The Topography card on every course page now also exposes stiffness, undulation, plus 5-pip meters for stamina demand and pace demand. New "Plays similarly to" line lists the three closest courses by topography — useful for finding form translation routes (e.g. wins at Brighton often translate to Epsom).
🏁 Structured form chips on every runner — Each horse name now carries small chips for Racing Post's structured form codes: BF (beaten favourite last time), CD (won at this course AND distance), C (won at this course), D (won over this distance). Replaces the old text-mined approach with cleaner, tooltip-explained labels that match what you see on RP's own cards.
🇮🇪 Country-of-bred flag on foreign runners — Horses bred outside GB now carry a flag emoji next to their name (🇮🇪 / 🇫🇷 / 🇺🇸 / 🇩🇪 etc.). GB-bred horses stay flag-free so foreign breeding stands out at a glance. Useful spotting raids and stakes-quality imports.
📜 Past Winners tab on race detail — A new Past Winners perspective tab appears on races with a track record on file. Shows the last decade of renewals — year, winner, age, weight, SP, jockey, trainer, RPR — with deep-links to each profile on Racing Post. Brilliant for spotting "this race always goes to a 5-year-old chaser" patterns.
📖 POST DATA tab on handicaps — Handicap races now expose Racing Post's full POST DATA analysis as a perspective tab: per-runner grades for going suitability, distance suitability, course suitability, pure ability and recent form. Colour-coded cells (aaa/aa/a green spectrum, X red) make the standout horses obvious. Hidden on non-handicaps.
💨 Situational chips: Wind op · 1st with jockey · 1st as gelding — Three new conditional chips on the runner row when the data fires: Wind op (wind surgery noted), 1st w/ J (first time this horse-jockey combo), 1st gelded (first run after gelding). Each often the difference between an unexplained improver and a known angle.
⚖️ Weight cell shows apprentice claim & penalty — The weight pill on each runner now annotates the claim (−3 for an apprentice 3lb claim) and the penalty (+5 for a recent-win penalty) inline. No more cross-referencing the racecard PDF.
🏷️ Race category chip in the header — Race headers now carry a category chip (Mdn, Nov, Hcap etc.) alongside the existing class chip, so race classification is visible without parsing the race name.
🧬 Pedigree tab on every racecard — Expand any runner and there's a new Pedigree tab in the perspective row. Six race-fit signals at a glance: sire on today's going, today's distance, today's race grade, this horse's age, the sire × damsire cross shrunk strike rate, and the dam's offspring strike. Each cell deep-links into the Breeding Lab for the full sire/cross profile. Backed by the same canonical pedigree library that powers Breeding Lab — now race-context aware.
🧬 Pedigree depth in runner details — Expanded view of every runner now carries a collapsible 🧬 Pedigree depth section: sire breakdown by race grade (G1/G2/G3/Listed/Hcap with W/R), sire by horse age (2yo/3yo/4yo/5+), this jockey × sire record, this trainer × sire record. All gated on minimum sample sizes — no noise from tiny n.
Jockey + Trainer tabs go lifetime — The Jockey and Trainer perspective tabs used to show only last-14-day form. Now each tab adds three columns: Lifetime W%, course Δ (better/worse at this course vs lifetime average), and × Sire (this jockey/trainer's record on this sire's offspring). Surfaces hot-jockey-at-this-course / trainer-loves-this-sire angles that 14-day stats miss.
🏞️ Course Topography on course profiles — Course profile pages now show a Topography card under Track Bias: handedness, gallop character (sharp/tight/fair/galloping/extra), uphill or downhill finish, bend sharpness, big-fence indicator, with a human-readable note. Covers 93 UK & IRE courses. Helps explain WHY a course suits certain horses beyond the draw bias.
Damsire fit chip + sire × damsire cross signal — The Pedigree Fit chip in the runner detail panel now also shows damsire overall strike rate (≥1k sample) and a cross chip when the sire × damsire combination has ≥30 runs in history (with shrunk rate and baseline tooltip). Green if the cross beats both parents' baselines, red if it lags.
🆕 Variant J — Field Edge (v2) — A tenth AI variant added to the catalogue. Field Edge scores each runner on nine race-context components: rating z-score vs field, day-level class strength, jockey lifetime form + course bonus, trainer lifetime form + course bonus, sire suitability (going + distance + course), dam strike rate, draw bias, this-horse-at-this-course form, and form momentum. Useful in deep handicaps where absolute rating misses the relative angle. Pick it on the Methodology page. Live P&L tracking active.
Canonical pedigree enrichment — Under the hood: every runner in the slim racecard is now joined against the canonical pedigree + connections library at enrichment time. Lifetime jockey/trainer win rates, course Δ, sire × going + distance + course, dam offspring stats, sire × race grade, sire × age, sire × damsire cross, jockey × sire, trainer × sire — all pre-joined per runner and used by Variant J and the new chips/tabs. No extra fetches at page load.
🔍 Site-wide search — The search box used to only work on the racecards page. It now works on every page, and finds any horse — over 120,000 UK & IRE horses indexed — plus all 160 courses, even when you're nowhere near today's card. Type from a horse profile, a results page, the homepage, anywhere — jump straight to the right profile.
⭐ My Stable follows you across devices — Followed horses, trainers, jockeys and your private notes now sync to your account. Add a horse on your phone in the paddock, open the laptop at home and it's already there. Stays in your browser too, so nothing's lost if you're signed out. Requires a free sign-in.
📶 Faster racecards at the track — Racecards, RaceIQ pages and the live P&L banner now load instantly from your phone's cache on repeat visits, with a fresh copy pulled in the background. Built for patchy 4G in the stands.
🛟 Live odds bounce back from blips — Previously, a single network hiccup could leave the live odds column blank for the rest of the session. The 30-second refresh now recovers cleanly on the next tick.
🆕 Variant I — Pace & Sectional Edge — A ninth AI variant added to the catalogue, Flat-focused, built on three signals not used by the other variants: pace × style fit (classifies the race's projected pace shape from field running comments, then scores each horse against the fit — closers in hot pace, lone speed up front), finishing-speed bonus from RaceIQ FSP (a horse that holds its peak speed late gets a boost), and a linear-regression momentum slope on the last five RPRs. Falls back to Variant A on NH racing. Pick it on the Methodology page. Live P&L starts tracking from today.
🧠 Pick your AI scoring variant — There are eight AI scoring variants — each tests a different hypothesis (form is king, speed edge, draw matters, kitchen sink, etc). Until today the AI Score column was always Variant A. Now you can pick which variant powers the score column on your racecards. The 🧠 AI chip in the header on Today, AI Picks and Racecards links to the new 🧠 Methodology page where every variant is explained alongside its live track record. Your pick syncs across devices if you've linked Telegram.
🧠 Methodology page — open by default — New Methodology page lays out exactly what each AI variant is testing and how it has performed. We're framed for what we are (a horse racing intelligence network — data, ratings, AI signals) and what we aren't (a tipping service, a paid product, a black box). Every variant's hypothesis, win rate, P&L and ROI is shown side by side.
Per-runner scores for all 8 variants on every racecard — Under the hood, each runner in the slim racecard JSON now carries scores for all eight variants (A through H). When you switch variant from the methodology page, every score on every racecard updates instantly — no reload needed.
Glossary popovers in-page — Clicking any angle badge (Class Dropper, Trainer Hotspot etc) now shows a small inline definition popover instead of opening the Help page in a new tab. Ctrl-click still opens Help if you want the full glossary entry. Press Esc to close.

Horse profile: Breeding Lab quick-link — Horse profile pages now have a prominent CTA in the Breeding card. If the horse runs today, it jumps straight to the per-race pedigree report; otherwise to the sire's overall record.
Performance: small-n warning on variants — Model variants with fewer than 50 settled picks now carry an amber ⚠ small n (N) chip, and their ROI is muted to a neutral colour. Stops a 24-pick variant with +200% ROI from looking like a winner.

AI rank of the winner — Every settled race on the Results page now shows how the AI ranked the actual winner, e.g. AI rank 2/8 · AI 76. See at a glance whether the model spotted it, was close, or missed it entirely.
Steamer & drifter chips on every runner — In the racecard, any horse whose price is moving now carries a 🔥 steaming or ❄ drifting chip showing the % move. Tap any chip to jump straight to Steamer Monster for live price history. Big movements (30%+) pulse to catch the eye.
Pedigree deep-links from every runner — In any racecard runner row, click the 🧬 sire or damsire name to open that pedigree directly in the Breeding Lab — no searching.
Proof in plain English — The Performance page now opens with the four rules we hold ourselves to: locked before the off, settled publicly, losers stay visible, no edits after the off. The technical hash-chain proof is still there for anyone who wants it.
Stale data warning — If the morning AI scoring is more than 18 hours old, the timestamp on the racecard turns orange so you know the data may be lagging.
Form Franking — Each horse's recent form now shows who beat them (or who they beat) by name, linked to their horse profile. When that rival is running today and has won since, a green ✓ Won badge appears confirming the form is franked. Amber ◐ Placed shows if they've placed without winning.
Daily Log — Places & Click-to-Expand — The Performance page daily log now shows a Pl column for picks that placed 2nd or 3rd each day. Click any day row to expand it and see every tip from that day — horse, course, AI score, odds, finishing position, and P&L — along with a quick W/Pl/L summary for that day. Individual tips are available for the most recent ~17 days.
SP Result Badges — Picks on the Today page now show WON / 2nd / 3rd / LOST badges automatically after each race settles. No more refreshing the Results page to check.
AI Confidence Filter — New All / 70+ / 80+ buttons above Today picks let you filter down to only the most confident selections.
Morning Price Movement — A ↘ (steaming) or ↗ (drifting) chip on each Today pick compares the morning Betfair price to current. Useful for spotting early movers before you place.
Results Live Badge — A green pulse dot on the Results page confirms auto-refresh is active. It pauses when the tab is in the background to save battery.
Horse Page Track Bias — Visit any horse profile and you'll now see a Track Bias panel for courses where the horse has run 2+ times, showing draw and going stats.
